Husky Bros. A Husky Sized Love Story

Tuuq Says:

Tuuq: So this week Mum and Dad have let me jump in and talk to you about Nirvana. Which I am sooo excited about. She’s my girlfriend. Yep!! Who would have thought it! Me, the quintessential bachelor. Living with my brother, who undoubtedly does not help me with the ladies, and still able to land one of the cutest Huskies around! I’m one lucky guy 😍. We have been on a few dates now and she liked me enough to introduce to the family on Monday! I met her brother Odin, who is a pretty awesome dude. I can definitely see us being mates.

Anuk Says:

Doesn’t help. ‘Scoff scoff’. Doesn’t help… My feather duster tail doesn’t help!!! Who do you think taught you the moves little brother. You think Dad’s running around showing you how to meet females? There’s only so much humans can teach you. I was at doggo parks peacocking well before you were born mate. Anyway, obviously this story ain’t about me, but I’m just going to jump in and correct the FACTS to Tuuq’s story. Usually it’s the opposite in our fam; I love a chat.

Tuuq Says:

Fair enough bro, but there won’t be any fiction to correct, I’m talking about someone I love! Anyway, please let’s talk about Nirvana. First, awesome name right? There’s in even awesome-r girl underneath. Nirvana and her bro Odin are pretty big celeb’s too. Everyone knows them and their pics are everywhere! But she’s grounded; hasn’t let that go to her head. I still love poking fun at her for it though! When I met her, she was a little unsure of me and why wouldn’t she be! Who was I? But Mum and Dad closely chaperoned our first meeting and it didn’t take long for Nirvana to warm to my charm! Then Nirvana came out of her shell and I got to meet Nirvana for who she really was, then I knew she was special.

Anuk Says:

With our appearance, us Huskies are usually approached with caution from humans who haven’t had the chance to get to know us and some doggos can find us pretty intense. But the caution isn’t needed, we love a play with anyone, human or doggo, that even wiggles in the right direction. But our play isn’t for the faint hearted! We will chase you down, grab hold of your flanks, use our teeth on your scuff, jump all over you, get right in your face, steal your legs just to be obnoxious all whilst growling and howling. So when 2 huskies meet that like each other, it can look like the the 2 snow dogs are getting into a pretty dramatic scuffle! But it’s all in our energy. The energy and shape of the play will change quickly if one of us isn’t enjoying the play anymore. With Tuuq and Nirvana, there was a fair bit of the traditional husky play, but also things I hadn’t seen Tuuq do before. He would follow her around, she would follow him around, softly licking each others faces and curling up together. I hadn’t seen Tuuq do that with anyone before. Then I knew Nirvana was something different to Tuuq..

Tuuq Says:

Nirvana and I started play like usual but I felt like our energies kind of meet. This is important for us doggos. Finding someone that you can share that with is rare. Not sure if it’s the same for humans, but it just means that we understand quickly how to play with one another. I was very flattered to find out Nirvana liked me. I don’t kiss and tell but, the way we were together from our first play; I just couldn’t be away from her! It wasn’t just the usual Husky bond, this was different. After our first play she was comfortable enough to fall asleep with me in the big area. Nirvana said, “I don’t do this with all the puppers I meet, you know”. I was very happy and thankful when Mum let me stay with Nirvana for our nap!

Anuk Says:

Huskies are an extremely independent type of doggo. Sure we love our humans and our loved ones, but we have Husky stuff to do. We are quite comfortable going off on our own adventure, all by ourselves. With all our energy, that adventure could last for a very, very long time. There is a reason why most humans do not allow us to venture off leash. We literally could follow a butterfly and become very, very lost. And we won’t be able to find our way home either, Huskies aren’t good with understanding that coming home thing! Our ancestors were very nomadic, so we tend to hold on to that a tad. In knowing all of this it was very odd to find Nirvana and Tuuq somewhat attached, exploring the campus together.

Tuuq Says:

We have spent a lot of time together now and I know Nirvana really well! I mean, I really, REALLY like Nirvana, so meeting her brother finally is a pretty big deal. I was a little worried he wouldn’t like me. Nirvana is definitely a Princess worth protecting after all. But Odin is a lot like his sister. He is a really chilled dude that had no problem having a play with Nirvana and I. So I got to know Odin as well. We played all day and had the most amazing time. Nirvana was the same around her brother too which was awesome, just meant that we could all be ourselves. I haven’t felt like this about any other doggo before. I just hope I get to keep seeing her and Odin too. I’m sooo happy I have Nirvana in my life ❤️
