Husky Bros. The Inskip Beach Escape

Portland Says:

Last weekend was my first ever beach camp! I had never been to the beach before, so wasn’t sure what it was. Anuk said it was sandy, Tuuq said it was wet. I like wet, no clue what sandy is! Mum and Dad packed up the big moving house they call a car after work each night last week. Full of all sorts of things with the craziest smells I ain’t ever smelled before! After one more sleep we got packed up too! All 4 of us, Anuk, Tuuq, Ruby (she comes to stay every now and again, Ruby lives with Grandad on a farm!) and me too. We all jumped in and curled up. It was a long, long drive. Lucky I can sleep anywhere!

Anuk Says:

Portland’s first beach camp so he gets to jump in first. Am I worried about losing my place. Hell no! He’s just a cute puppy. You should have seen my puppy pics! I was so damn cute your face would melt off after a single glance. Tuuq though, lucky he had blue eyes, only thing going for him as a puppy. Even then, not everyone is a fan of blue eyes. Beach is wicked, long walks, swimming, chilling in the wind. We always camp somewhere with the sweetest view. Makes a dog feels like he is on top of the world! Mum and Dad love going to the beach. The longer the better! We all just sit together watching the waves roll in. This trip we had heaps of friends too!

Bahaha Anuk. Seriously mate, Mum told me they spent half of your puppy hood wondering if you were actually a Siberian Husky. You looked like nothing they had ever seen! They didn’t know about your wooly coat. Just a complete sphere of fur rolling around stealing Jarlsberg Cheese. Yeah I heard that story. You nicked half your body weight in cheese. The look on their face would have been stella to see, but I would have paid to see you face trying to push that one out if they hadn’t of got it back off you. But yeah camping is great stuff. Even better with mates. This trip we had Marzy a big fluffy male Border Collie, Ella a slightly less fluffy female Border Collie and Aurora another Husky like us, except she’s a bit older and can get irritable with us young bucks running around. Envy Marz and Ella but, they get to go everywhere off lead.

So I’ve learnt that the beach is AWESOME! I learnt to dig, Dad showed me how down by the waves. That’s these big, and sometimes scary, moving water walls at the beach. They are fun to eat, but don’t swallow em’! Dad got in trouble for teaching me how to dig, wonder why, it’s so much fun. I’m going to try it at home! I went swimming with Mum and Dad way out past the waves. Couldn’t touch the bottom! Was a bit scary but Mum and Dad looked after me. Anyway back to digging! I was digging all over the place, holes so big a could stick my whole head in! I met a fast moving rock thing called a crab. Dad said not to go too close, but Tuuq said to give it a sniff. I have learnt to listen to Dad and Mum first. Who knows, that crab could have some sort of teeth thing to bite my nose! I did some sleeping too, on top of a big hill so I could see the whole beach. IT”S HUGE!!! Can’t wait to go back. I could definitely live at the beach!!

Anuk Says:

Yeah, not going to lie, Tuuq’s cheese story is true, I don’t mind a bit of cheese. Anyway, the trip was like a usual beach trip, but friends made it awesome. I have known Aurora since I was a pup. I get her, no one else does, not even Tuuq! She’s a cool chick. But on to darker subjects. Dark brown subjects… I know Portland is a puppy and learning, but after the second Duce in the tent I’d had enough. Confined space with that stank… If there is one draw back to camping it is that tent. We need more space man. Will have to get onto Mum so she can convince Dad to get something else bigger. And off the ground. With a shower just for me and a bed with some breeze. What else, a walk in fridge would be hectic, and only I’m allowed in with Mum, Dad and maybe Ruby. Tuuq and Portland have to STAY OUTSIDE!

What and leave me with that smell! No way man, it was like a celebration of everything he ate on the beach, sooo bad. I’m not worried though, he will get it. I mean if you did Anuk, Portland should be almost done, right? Didn’t spend too much time with Aurora but Marz and Ella I’ve known forever. They have stayed at ours heaps. Marz even taught me how to escape when we were young! I owe him so much.. We swam together, chased crabs together and just watched the waves roll in. They even got to come in our car for a trip. It was sure bumpy but. I’ll never understand how the beach can be made of sand so soft, it’s more comfortable than bed, but when you are in a car driving over it, it gives all the experience of being smashed by a wave without the wetness. Dad calls it Four Wheel Driving. It’s actually not too bad, keeps you on your toes. That’s pretty much the beach trip done. Some rain and wind sent us home a few hours early, perfect Husky weather but Mum and Dad chose to bail. Wasn’t too annoyed, it was a cracker trip!
